  6. 17.7    CHANGE CONFIGURATION -                          Version 2.1d

  8.    General Description - Change Configuration allows the user to
  9.    taylor the parameters and defaults which are used throughout
  10.    the program to their particular needs and system.  The
  11.    Configuration System uses a Hidden, Read-Only file to store
  12.    the parameters listed below for use by all parts of the
  13.    program, without having to re-enter these parameters each time
  14.    the program is run.  The Configuration System consists of 1
  15.    main screen, and 4 secondary screens which allow the user to
  16.    readily edit All of the parameters.

  19.    The Secondary Screens and the parameters they access are
  20.    described below:

  91.    Configuration Menu - The Main Screen contains a menu which
  92.    provides access to all of the Configuration parameters, the
  93.    menu items and parameters they access are described below:

  95. 17.7.1  System Parameters Entry - The following is a description
  96.    of the System parameters and their defaults if any.  See
  97.    Figure 17.7.1 for the layout of the System Parameters Screen.
  98.  
  99.       Company Name - Name of Company using the program - this
  100.       name is printed on the top of all reports and show up on
  101.       most major screens.
  102.  
  103.       Program File Path - This must be specified in order for the
  104.       program to operate properly, especially if a file is to be
  105.       viewed on the screen.  Also if the program uses Overlay
  106.       files, this must be correct before the program will run.
  107.       Must contain the Drive specifier and the Path if any.

  110.       DOS Utilities Path - This must be specified in order for
  111.       the program to allow the user to perform Backup & Restore
  112.       procedures from within.

  116.    selected for the menu are acceptable.

  190. 17.7.2  File Maintenance Password - Password used for access to
  191.    the File maintenance menu of a program, if no system
  192.    maintenance function exists then this password also allows
  193.    access to the System configuration utility.

  195. 17.7.3  Maintenance System Password - Password used for access to
  196.    the System maintenance menu of a program, if used, allows
  197.    access to the System configuration utility, seperate from the
  198.    file maintenance function.

  200.    NOTE - The passwords entered ARE CASE SENSITIVE
  201.    (e.g. "password" <> "PASSWORD" <> "Password" <> "pASSWORD", etc.,
  202.    Password = Password).  The entry is done using the double
  203.    entry method, if the two match, then the password is saved
  204.    in the Configuration file.  If they do not match then the
  205.    password is saved to the Configuration file as a Null String
  206.    (No Password).  The passwords will NEVER be displayed on the
  207.    screen at any time during entry for security purposes, this is
  208.    the reason for Entry and Validation.

  210. 17.7.4  Printer Parameters Entry - The following is a description
  211.    of the Printer parameters and their defaults if any.  See
  212.    Figure 17.7.4 for the layout of the Printer Parameters Screen.
  213.  
  214.       Printer Path - This is the Path to the External Printer
  215.       Support Program (e.g. Print Spooler), Such as:
  216.                 "D:\PRNTR\PRINT.COM"    DEFAULT: no command.
  217.  
  218.       Printer Command - This is the command that is passed to the
  219.       external Program containing the filename to be printed and
  220.       any flags/switches to be passed with it.  E.g.: "%F /P"
  221.       %F is the location where the filename of the file to be
  222.       printed should be inserted in the command line.
  223.                 DEFAULT: no command.
  224.  
  225.       Printer Device - This is the Device String which indicates
  226.       the Logical printer Port to be used by the program for
  227.       printing of its reports.  Valid printer device strings are:
  228.                 "LPT1", "LPT2", "LPT3", or "PRN".
  229.  
  230.       The device string should be entered without the Quotes and
  231.       No colon should be entered following the device string.
  232.                 DEFAULT: LPT1
  233.  
  234.       Default Report Length - This is the value used by the
  235.       printer support module when printing all reports, it is the
  236.       number of lines per page. This value should be calculated at 6
  237.       lines per inch. E.g. 11" paper equals 66 lines.

  242.       Use Form Feeds - This value determines whether the Printer
  243.       module should write Form Feeds to advance to the next page

  246.       report, if Use Form Feeds is True, then the paper will be
  247.       advanced to the top of the next form, so that it is ready
  248.       for the next report to be printed.

  251.       Write Initialization String - If some specific initialization
  252.       string should be sent to the printer before printing the
  253.       reports, then set this parameter to: Yes.  Common Init.
  254.       strings include: Enhanced Print, Emphasized Print, 12CPI, etc.

  257.       Use Condensed Print - If printing of wide reports (e.g. 132
  258.       col.) is desired on standard 8.5" x 11" paper then set this

  262.       11")  to print wide reports, then set this parameter to: No.

  318.    etc. should be enabled by entering the printer specific print
  319.    codes in this code string.

  321. 17.7.6  Reset Printer Codes - This is the standard code that is
  322.    sent to the printer each time a report, etc. is finished
  323.    printing. Any features used in the above code string should be
  324.    cancelled with the appropriate reset codes, also you can do a
  325.    Form Feed here to avoid using the: Use Form Feed parameter.

  327. 17.7.7  Condensed Print Codes - If Condensed printing is desired
  328.    for for wide reports on narrow paper, then place the
  329.    appropriate printer code here to invoke Condensed Print Mode.
